A visit from our local MP

On Friday 20th January, the academy had a visit from South Bristol's MP Karin Smyth. She enjoyed watching the students' Musical Celebration, with class performances showcasing song writing skills, singing ability and rhythmic instrument playing.

After the Musical Celebration, the students received their end of week certificates, presented by Karin Smyth, which was a special highlight for the students.

After the assembly the academy parliament members met with the local MP. Here the students had the opportunity to discuss what her job entails, how she became an MP, and what kind of questions she gets asked in discussions?

The students enjoyed the chance to talk with her about a variety of topics, including how many steps are in  Big Ben, a great joke told by Luke, and a group decision on when would be the right time to eat the donuts!

It is hoped she will be able to return to the academy on another occasion to spend more time with the students.
