Purpose: to see how Mathematics Mastery is achieving its mission is to transform mathematics education in the UK through working in partnership to empower and equip schools to deliver world-class mathematics. teaching. Dr Helen Drury is a leading expert on mathematics education, a member of the 2014 National Curriculum drafting group. As a pioneer of the mastery approach to mathematics education in the UK, Dr Drury founded Mathematics Mastery in 2011. Under her leadership, the partnership programme has grown from 30 schools to over 265 schools across the country. She is also the author of a book, ‘Mastering Mathematics’, published by Oxford University Press. Mathematics Mastery was the first organisation in the UK to adapt a Singapore style of mathematics teaching for UK schools. It remains the only partnership programme of its kind today and the partnership programme has grown from 30 schools to over 265 schools across the country. As a teacher Helen taught maths and studied mathematics education in diverse inner city comprehensives. Whilst remaining a classroom practitioner she carried out research with Oxford University and the Open University, and was awarded a PhD in mathematics education.
