On Tuesday 7th March, some lucky students joined with Merchants' Academy students to visit the Cobham Training Centre, which is the training ground for Chelsea Football Club.

 

The students had a tour of all the facilities, met some players, and joined with a Chelsea football coach for a 2-hour training session. Within the session students completed different drills and practiced penalty shooting. Afterwards all the students joined together to play a match.

Harvey in Red Room recalls, 'My favourite part of the day was the match, the end score was 1-1 and I scored a great goal'.

 

The students were all presented with certificates from Chelsea Centre of Excellence, and the highlight of the day was getting to see the premiership team training on the field as they were leaving the training ground.

'It was a brilliant day, and the students learnt all about working as a team, and were able to experience lots of fun football drills and techniques. A highlight for the students was a glance of the Chelsea team in training. It was a truly memorable day for all who went.'   -  Mr Dugdale-Close
